Our Hearts Mission

The Olivet Baptist Family takes our mission seriously because God desires that we love God, love people, and make disciples by sharing Jesus's love.

When asked which is the greatest commandment in the Bible, Jesus replied:

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

This is the great and first commandment.

And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”(Matthew 22:37–39, ESV)

Jesus also told His people:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19–20, ESV)

We desire everyone to experience Jesus's love, receive forgiveness of sins, and fellowship with others who he has forgiven.

Every Heart’s Need

Accept that God loves you

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

(John 3:16, NKJV)

Accept that everyone sins

“As it is written: ‘There is none righteous, no, not one.’” (Romans 3:10, NKJV)

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23, NKJV)

Realize the consequences of sin

“For the wages of sin is death…”(Romans 6:23, NKJV) “Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”

(Revelation 20:14, NKJV)

Realize Jesus paid the penalty for sin

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”(Romans 5:8, NKJV)

Confess Jesus as your Lord

“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9–10, NKJV)

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.”

(John 1:12, NKJV)

What We Believe

At Olivet Baptist Church, our faith is centered on the life-changing truth of Jesus Christ and the authority of God’s Word. We believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God, guiding all that we believe and do.

As a member of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), we joyfully affirm the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 as a summary of our essential beliefs. This statement reflects our commitment to biblical doctrine, the Great Commission, and the unity of believers through Christ.

We invite you to learn more about what we believe by reading the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
